The Phi Phi islands in Thailand are some of the most beautiful islands in the whole world and are a thriving tourist hotspot. They are located in the Krabi province of Thailand in the southern region close to Phuket and consist of six islands of which Phi Phi Don is the largest and the other visited is Phi Phi Leh.
The area offers secluded beaches surrounded by limestone cliffs and came into
worldwide prominence after the shooting of the film The Beach there starring Leonardo Di Caprio.
The clear waters and beaches have led to the island being recognized as a national park. Though the island was devastated by the tsunami, much of it has been
reconstructed and still attract tourists and locals.
Accommodation is available only on Phi Phi Don which has a unique viewpoint while guided tours are made to the smaller Phi Phi Leh which boasts spectacular destinations like Maya Beach, location of The Beach movie and Monkey Island, home to some monkeys.
The islands also boast areas like Phaya Naak cave with prehistoric paintings and Viking cave with a thriving edible birds nest industry. The islands rank as foremost tourist hotspot not just in Thailand but the whole world.
